On Illumination, Ty Burhoe brings together bamboo flute maestros, Steve Gorn and Manose. They take the listener on a journey into the rising sun within us all. Together with the inspirational rhythms of the tabla, they illuminate an intention to find strength and kindness within all our lives.

The entwining of two bansuri flutes makes for delightful interplay on this album from Tala Records, the label of multi-instrumentalist Ty Burhoe. The flutists lending their expertise are Manose and Steve Gorn. Joined by Burhoe on the tabla, this album presents sublime arrangements that capture the airy beauty of the flute, alongside the earthy thump of percussion. The pieces are based on various Indian ragas. A highlight is “Rising Sun,” inspired by “Rag Nat Bhairav.”
